AFTER SCHOOL

After School captures the essence of a vibrant subculture through the lens of skateboarding. I began the project by documenting the historic skateparks of Los Angeles, starting with the iconic Venice Beach Skatepark. I was drawn to the unique energy of amateurs and pros sharing the same space, and I used medium and long focal lenses to include the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, making it a silent character in the scenes. The series celebrates the diversity, friendship, and freedom of expression found in this world of movement, subculture, and wheels, all captured with an artist's eye for detail and beauty.
